A dream is a sequence of hallucinatory experiences that may have a some coherence but that are also often bizarre that occur primarily during the Rapid Eye Movement, or REM, part of sleep. The experiences may include images, sounds and other sensations. A simple explanation for a complex phenomena that has baffled mankind for centuries, isn’t it?

Some people discount dreams as mere ‘white noise’ of the mind, meaningless. Others think that dreams offer an insight into the psyche of the dreamer. Some think that dreams are a way that the brain trains itself internally. Some believe that dreams have a spiritual meaning.

My own thinking is that dreams are often the mind’s way of coping with various experiences a person has encountered in their life or that they wish, consciously or subconsciously, to happen or not happen in their life. I don’t discount spiritual meaning in dreams, that’s something personal to the individual who experiences it.

What are your thoughts on dreams and what they represent?
